Save water, enjoy convenience
This August, it’s all about sustainability at KWC. We will shed some light on the importance of water- and energy-saving fittings and provide you with valuable tips on how you can easily save water and energy at home.
SUSTAINABILITY
Water as a resource
Water is life. Responsible use of this valuable resource is an integral element of our identity. KWC has always been committed to a mindful use of water. We want to preserve our planet and make a significant contribution to reducing water consumption worldwide.
Water as the essence of life
As the elixir of life for our planet, water is the basis for the existence of humans, animals and plants. In order to protect our environment, we need to use water responsibly. Every drop counts – for a sustainable future and a healthy planet.

Technologies
Our water and energy-saving technologies
With our water- and energy-saving versions, characterised by our EcoProtect and CoolFix technologies, we are committed to economical water consumption and careful use of this resource.
EcoProtect
For economical water consumption and the careful use of resources: EcoProtect stands for our endeavours to promote sustainable living at home. These taps are characterised by reduced water or energy consumption and have the A energy label.
On our website, you will find products labelled EcoProtect for the bathroom with a water consumption of less than 6 l/min and for the kitchen with a consumption of less than 9 l/min. This means that they fulfil the criteria for energy label A. A special water flow and outlet regulation system, which enriches the water with air, reduces the amount of water without any loss of comfort.
This makes it easy to save up to 30 per cent water and energy without compromising on quality.
CoolFix
Intelligent use of resources: thanks to CoolFix, only cold water flows in the most frequently used centre position of the operating lever. Hot water only flows when the lever is actively turned to the left. This prevents the unnecessary addition of hot water, which is triggered with conventional taps in the centre position.
Although the hot water supply is activated when hot water is used for a short period of time, such as a quick wash of the hands, the hot water usually does not reach the tapping point during this short time. By the time the hot water reaches the hands, the washing process is usually already finished.
The heated water cools down unused in the pipes. On average, 1.5 litres of unused water is heated during each hand wash cycle, generating unnecessary resources and CO2 emissions.
Products
A sustainable product portfolio
Responsible use of resources is a fundamental principle for us. Our taps for bathrooms and kitchens with the EcoProtect label limit the water flow while maintaining full functionality. The CoolFix technology also reduces energy consumption and saves costs.

OUR COMMITMENT KWC x Viva con Agua
KWC and Viva con Agua share a common mission: to improve quality of life for people across the globe through access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities. In August, we will donate CHF 3 to Viva con Agua's water projects in Mozambique for every water- and energy-saving tap sold.

Our tips for the bathroom
Save water and energy
Tip 1: Buy a Class A shower spray head
Class A shower spray heads use less than six litres of water per minute. This type of shower spray head halves water and energy consumption without compromising on the pleasurable shower experience. Pay attention to the energy label when purchasing your fittings!
Tip 2: Take a short and efficient shower
Studies show that a full wash is possible in under three minutes. Shorter showers significantly reduce water and energy consumption. Give it a try and help the environment.
Tip 3: Take a cool shower
Showering with colder water (e.g. 24 °C instead of 38 °C) can reduce energy consumption by up to 50%. A cool shower also boosts circulation, making it an ideal way to start the day.

Our tips for the kitchen
Save water and energy
Tip 1: Choose a Class A kitchen tap
Class A kitchen taps supply between four and six litres of water per minute, ideal for filling the sink without any annoying splashing. This allows you to save water and energy when washing up.
Tip 2: Use your dishwasher’s eco program
Eco programs take longer, but use significantly less water and energy. Use these programs to be more sustainable. The dishwasher works most efficiently when it’s fully loaded. This allows you to save water and energy every time you run a load.
Tip 3: Don’t wash dishes under running water
Don’t wash your dishes under running water. Fill the sink with warm water and wash up efficiently. This saves water and energy.

Our household tips
Save water and energy
Tip 1: Use rainwater
Collect rainwater in a rain barrel. Plants often prefer rainwater to tap water, and this allows you to save valuable drinking water. Place the barrel next to a downpipe with a collection opening, and cover it to prevent evaporation and stop mosquitoes breeding.
Tip 2: Water plants selectively
Water your plants in the early morning or evening to minimise water evaporation. Add the water directly to the root area and avoid wetting the leaves. This saves water and prevents disease.
Use drip irrigation systems that supply water directly to the roots of the plants. These systems are highly water-efficient and can be controlled automatically for optimal adjustment of the water quantity.
Tip 3: Mulching to save water
Cover the soil around your plants with mulch. Mulch reduces evaporation, keeps the soil damp and suppresses weeds. This not only saves water, but also improves soil quality.
